Kohli and Tendulkar, at 86

Tendulkar finished with 100 international hundreds: 51 in Tests and 49 in ODIs. Kohli is on 86: 30 in Tests, 55 in ODIs, and 1 in T20Is. The gap is 14 to draw level and 15 to go past.

The ODI column has already flipped. Kohli has more one-day hundreds than Tendulkar made in a full career. The Test column has not, and it will not, because the Test list is closed. Every remaining hundred has to be an ODI hundred.

That is why 14 does not behave like 14 from earlier in a career. Tendulkar could still add Test hundreds when he was in the eighties. Kohli cannot. The window is a list of ODI chances, and the calculator on the homepage turns a chosen rate into a total. Neither one is a promise that 100 happens.

The comparison people sometimes want, innings taken to reach the same milestone, is not printed here. The ledger stores hundreds, not every innings in between, and a borrowed innings-count from an old article would be the wrong number the week after it was written.
